In-Between - light installation by Daniel Popescu

About the work

Premiered in a forest clearing at Electric Castle 2017, In-Between stages three tilted cubes whose surfaces behave as mirrors by day and reveal infinite neon chambers by night. The work marks the passage between the natural and the technological - a threshold state that gives it its name.

The neon geometry pays homage to Dan Flavin, with a subtle reference to Brancusi’s Endless Column folded into the repetition of the reflected light. Optical effects create illusions of depth and movement inside a strictly geometrical framework.

In 2024 the installation toured three of Europe’s leading light festivals, in Copenhagen, London and Essen.
